Board of Directors
The Board of Directors overseeing Excess Share Insurance represents a diverse, experienced, and highly respected cross-section of credit union leaders. They establish company policy and play a critical role in shaping strategic direction and execution. Meet the leaders elected by our member credit unions to oversee the operations and long-term strength of our organization:
James Miles
Mr. Miles currently serves as the Chair of Excess Share Insurance (ESI). Mr. Miles is President & CEO of MyUSA Credit Union (OH). Mr. Miles also serves on a number of credit union related Boards including Cooperative Business Services, Navatros, Xtend, as well as the Ohio Credit Union Council.
Elizabeth Calderone
Ms. Calderone is President and CEO of the Illinois Credit Union League and Envisant, a role she assumed in January 2025. She joined ICUS in 2018 as President/COO for Envisant and previously served as CEO and President of Earthmover Credit Union (IL). A credit union leader since 1987, she has served on the Envisant Board of Directors, was Chair of the Supervisory Committee for Alloya Corporate FCU and served as Board Chair for American Share Insurance (OH). Libby is a University of Illinois graduate and a Certified Credit Union Investment Expert (CCUIE).
Theresa Mason
Ms. Mason is a highly accomplished Executive within the insurance industry and became ASI CEO and President in April of 2022. Prior to her tenure with ASI, Theresa spent 16 years in the Columbus Market with Grange Insurance and the Kansas City Life Insurance Company. There she served as President of Grange Life Insurance where she directed highly effective finance, operations, sales and IT teams. A Certified Public Accountant, Theresa also carries her CGMA (Chartered Global Management Accountant) and holds affiliations with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Ohio Society of CPAs.
Brian Poling
Mr. Poling is the Senior Vice President of Financial Operations & Treasury for Grange Insurance where he has served for more than 22 years. His industry highlights include work in the P & C and Life insurance industries for more than 25 years. Prior to joining Grange, he was a Senior Auditor in the KPMG LLP insurance practice. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and has Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Fellow Life Management (FLMI) designations. He has served on the Board of Directors for Furniture Bank of Central Ohio and joined the Board of Directors of LifeCare Alliance in 2024 serving on the finance committee.
Janice Thomas
Ms. Thomas was President and CEO of PSE Credit Union in Ohio for 26 years prior to retiring in 2017. Her industry highlights include serving as Chair of Corporate One Federal Credit Union, President of the Education Credit Union Council and Board Member of the Cleveland Chapter of Credit Unions. Ms. Thomas was also appointed to the Governor’s Credit Union Council.
